June 2004 grand opening of multi-point gluer at trm Celebrating the completion of trm's Stage One investment programme The honour of opening trm's new Tanabe Millennium multi-point gluer recently fell to Tracey Duffy of Grampian Country Food Group. Trevor Maund, trm's Chief Executive, said, "We are delighted that the Group Purchasing Manager for a major customer of ours agreed to perform the ceremony - an important landmark in our development." The commissioning of the £0.5 million machine was the culmination of trm's Stage One investment programme since taking over the packaging business early in 2002. The new facility further increases trm's specialist gluing capacity and enhances their strong presence in the meat and poultry sector, where they are market leader in corrugated boxes for poultry packing. It was fitting that Tracey was invited to watch cases destined to protect her company's products flowing through the series of processes on this new machine. trm's customer-led investment to date has included four-colour case-making, four-colour rotary die-cutting, corrugator upgrades to improve quality and speed of manufacture and, in addition to this latest acquisition, an Andrew & Suter Super Nova multi-point gluer. "Working together with trm is a pleasure," said Tracey. "They provide Grampian with excellent service combined with competitive prices. It was good to be part of the celebration of the addition of this new machine and to give the trm team my best wishes for the next stage in their investment programme." Continuing their commitment to provide customers with the widest possible choice of packaging options, trm are now embarking on the second stage of their investment programme, to be completed by August 2004. It will include further corrugator upgrades, a fully equipped purpose-built laboratory and additions to their conversion capacity.
