packaging company staff celebrate a millennium of hard work

Thirty five employees at a Lancashire corrugated packaging firm have proved company loyalty is not a relic of the past by being rewarded for more than 1,000 years of service between them. Years of dedication to TRM Packaging, in Burscough, was recognised at an awards ceremony at Burscough Cricket Club – which saw the committed employees receiving generous gift vouchers for their achievement. Engineering team leader Hugh Ainscough boasted the title of longest serving member of staff – with 35.6 (to be precise!) years of service, while an impressive 22 individuals totted up more than 30 years’ service each.

All of the staff members have been with TRM since its early days – the company traded initially as Westbrook prior to being called Seyfert before TRM Packaging was born – and have come from different disciplines including delivery truck driver, forklift operator, shift manager and administrative roles. One employee retired, then returned to work for the company part-time ~ now, that says something!

Congratulating the staff, chief executive Trevor Maund said: “These awards are a small token of our appreciation for their proud record of dedicated professional service to the company. All have been instrumental in helping meet the needs of thousands of companies for conventional corrugated products and boxes. TRM is a friendly place to work and we like to think that is why so many staff have chosen to spend their whole careers here.”
