trm - new lab improves service and quality

Recent investment in a purpose built laboratory will further enhance trm's ability to provide customers with cost-efficient solutions.

The laboratory equipment, installed in a controlled environment, enables trained personnel to carry out a comprehensive range of procedures, including Box Compression, Edge Crush, Flat Crush, Calliper and Folding Force Tests. Lancashire based trm Packaging Limited conceived the brand new lab to fulfil two main roles.

In support of new business development, it will help ensure trm's bespoke packaging solutions are exactly right for customers' products and for their packaging operation. The quality checks that can now be run in house will assure customers of the reliable performance of packs designed by trm throughout the cycle, from storage to packing line, from distribution to shelf. This additional source of data will be invaluable to trm's team of packaging supply chain consultants in developing and perfecting the optimum corrugated pack design for each assignment.

TRM's laboratory personnel will also now monitor internal manufacturing processes at the packaging company on a continuous basis, to verify the quality of their products, enabling trm to guarantee consistent performance to customers, throughout the life of a product.

As market needs evolve, TRM are committed to extending the range of specialist and standard tests they offer. "We welcome customer feedback," said Jenny Morrison, Quality Manager for trm. "Further investment will be planned in consultation with existing and new customers, to satisfy their emerging needs."
