June 2004 production director – new appointment by trm "Develop your own people and support the rest of the team." That's what Mike Introna sees as the key to delivering outstanding customer service, as he joins trm Packaging Limited as Production Director. Mike transfers to Lancashire-based trm from DS Smith, where he was Conversion Manager at Fordham. His first impression of his new company is an atmosphere of enthusiasm. "The trm team have succeeded in differentiating themselves as a significant player in a tough market," he said. "It's often said that people are the most important asset of an organisation. At trm, this isn't an empty phrase; it's at the core of everything they do. "I'm delighted to be taking on this broader role with an independent packaging company. This is going to be an environment where decisions affecting our progress and efficiency can be made and acted upon quickly and where I know I can make a difference. Continuous development of my personnel will be central to my goals. My ambition for my new company is for it to become the industry benchmark for exceptional service." With a background in mining and electrical engineering, Mike applies his practical, hands-on approach to production management within his chosen career field of packaging. He also applies his philosophy of people development to himself; he is currently studying for his Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management, due for completion this year. Mike is married to Zoë and they have two boys aged 11 and 9. What with his studies and the support of his sons' sporting activities, Mike says he has little time left for his preferred pastime – coarse and game angling.
