And we work with the biggest and the best. Through innovation in design and awareness of customer needs, trm found the solutions that Tesco needed but couldn’t find elsewhere. We’re now responsible for all Tesco’s Prepared Meats srp, and expanding into other areas through our blossoming relationship with Tesco’s suppliers.
In a short space of time, srp has transformed the supermarket trade. Dispensing with transit cases, it delivers the goods in attractive, durable containers ready for display. It’s perhaps the clearest case yet of a packaging solution boosting the efficiency and impact of a major retail operation – and trm has been at the forefront of this revolution.
We know what our clients and their customers want, because we work closely with every link in the chain from manufacturer to consumer. In turn, our partners know that we understand their needs, and that no one is further ahead of the game when it comes to design innovation and ingenuity.
Jamie Earley, our senior Supply Chain Consultant, confirms that trm’s success is rooted in basic good practice: “It’s a question of finding solutions that tick all the boxes for everybody, keeping to the deadlines, giving excellent service and knowing what’s required.
“Through our close, long-term relationship with one of Tesco’s main suppliers of prepared meat, we were given the opportunity to look at shelf-ready packaging for Tesco stores. We developed a whole new style of packaging that was very quick to erect, quick to fill and quick to go on shelves. So it was Tesco’s favoured solution. They said to their other suppliers, “We like the solution trm have come up with, we’d like you to adopt that solution as well.”
“Because we were at Tesco’s merchandising meetings, their other suppliers came straight to us. We went through the development process with them – and because of the way our team is set up - able to respond quickly, fulfil specific needs, and Tesco’s very tight deadlines, we secured a lot of extra business and new customers in a really short space of time.
“Retailers see many advantages to srp. The upgraded packaging makes it easier to identify the product in back of store, so there’s vast time-saving in replenishing shelves. And retailers say customers are far more likely to pick from full shelves than empty.”
Promoting a range of goods that extends from sausages to household cleaners, our shelf-ready packaging does a whole lot more than simply improving efficiency.
