November 2005 trm - new gluer enables launch of 'Sesco Pak' Further investment at trm Packaging Limited in an additional Andrew & Suter Super Nova multi-point gluer improves the company's capacity for creative design. The capabilities of the new machine have enabled the company's supply chain specialists and pack designers to bring an ingenious concept to life - the corrugated case with the self-erecting / self-closing operation. Affectionately – and now officially – known as SescoTM, this protected design replaces the traditional green plastic crates previously used for such products as ready meals and prepared foods. The new Sesco PakTM has been instrumental in winning valuable new business for trm from the major supermarkets. The Sesco PakTM expendable corrugated packaging for products in this sector of the foods market eliminates the need for washing re-usable crates. The self-erecting and self-closing mechanisms save money by reducing the storage space required by manufacturers and retailers. SescoTM is quick to pack. The base closes automatically with one swift pull by the operator from its flat to erect state. Once filled with product, the Sesco PakTM snaps tight shut, again in just one swift movement – taping systems at the end of packing lines are a thing of the past. In store, it benefits retail companies by cutting down the time it takes to transfer product from warehouse to shelf. Because no sharp knives are required for opening Sesco PakTM, it also reduces waste by protecting the products inside from blade damage. The finger-tip opening operation plays an important Health & Safety role too, in keeping sharp edges away from personnel and customers. A typical example of trm's customer-focused attitude to design development, the quality Sesco PakTM corrugated case is 100% recyclable and is made from 100% recycled material.
