trm sponsors brave voyagers
trm Packaging Limited are pleased to sponsor Caledonian Challenge 2005 – a two-week expedition starting 28th May - challenging two people to sail up the Caledonian Canal, down the east coast of Scotland and, via the Forth Canal, the Clyde and west coast as far as the Sound of Jura, back to Fort William.
One very good reason why trm are supporting this venture is that it's for an excellent cause – the fight against colitis and Crohn's disease. Another very good reason is that one of the intrepid duo is Ed Morris, supply chain consultant with trm, who lists his hobbies as sailing, sailing and sailing!
The last and definitely not the least important reason is Ed's friend John Wallace. Badly injured in a rock climbing accident at the age of 28, it took John 5 years to return to anything like normal life, only to be diagnosed subsequently with colitis. Several harrowing operations later, John is now 'giving something back to the charity directly responsible for advances in the treatment of this condition'. Incredibly, John is the other half of the crew attempting this feat.
"Of course, none of us can ever fully appreciate what John has gone through," says Ed, "or the issues he has to cope with every day. However, it's quite obvious that this trip is going to be very, very challenging for him. I consider it a privilege to have him on board the Sea Wych."
